The mobile
I was going to make some origami animals into a mobile; that was the plan. But they didn't look very interesting when viewed from below. And since the mobile was intended to hang above the changing table, I wanted it to look interesting from below!

Look ma, no (adult) hands!
I'm beginning to wonder if Cameron might just skip the rolling phase entirely. He's still content to just lay there on his back or his stomach, and doesn't really make any real effort to roll in either direction.
But he's capable of sitting up on his own now...it's wobbly and he leans pretty far forward to support himself, but he can do it!
And if you let him grip your fingers, he can stand up and support his own weight too. Go baby! :)

Can I have some?
So, for the past few weeks, Cameron has become increasingly more interested in food. Our food. And our drinks. Pretty much anything we're consuming.
His big, wide eyes stare and follow the food/drink as it moves from your plate to your face. He grabs for the fork and the cup. This guy wants you to share!
Alas, he's still too young for most everything we're eating and drinking. The pedi said at his 4 month appointment that if we're *dying* to start solids before 6 months, that we could probably try a little rice cereal when he reached 5.5 months. I really wasn't planning on starting until he actually turned 6 months, but he sure is letting us know that he's interested!
So, stay tuned. We're going to go buy some cereal for him in the next few days and see what happens! :)

5 months!
Happy 5 months, little man!
Actually...not so little! About a week ago we had to make the switch to 6-9 month clothing. The cloth diapers do add some bulk, but even in a thin little disposable, it was still hard to snap those 3-6 month onesies closed. So I quickly washed a bunch of new bigger items for him, and what do you know, they fit perfectly. They're not even that big on him, either!
What's new these days? Smiles and laughs, for sure. Chris and I get the biggest smiles when we walk into a room and he sees us, and especially when we see him at the end of a workday. It melts my heart! And he's laughing more too, definitely distinct from the giggles we used to get. He's more interactive in general, which is a lot of fun!
No teeth or rolling yet. He's gumming toys (like Sophie!) and drooling like crazy, but I have yet to spy or feel any lumps beneath the gums. We're working on sitting up, but he's not doing that unassisted yet. As for rolling over, he seems perfectly content to stay put when we lay him on his back. Sometimes when we put him on his tummy he will lean and then tip over, eventually rolling to his back, but it still doesn't appear to be very deliberate. I'm not trying to rush him, though! :)
