Scales and sleeping

Cameron heard that he was supposed to have a growth spurt around 3 months, and he really took it seriously. He did some major growing!

I can tell he's taller by the way he fits on the changing pad, and in his car seat and swing. And I know he's heavier! But I didn't know how much heavier until Sunday when we took a little trip to Bed, Bath & Beyond.

We don't own a scale, you see. So I figured we could go there and borrow one for just a few minutes. :) I weighed myself, then Chris handed Cameron to me and we calculated the difference. He's now weighing in at 17.4 pounds. Chunky monkey! (Not quite 4 months old and already more than doubled his birthweight.)

This means that he should no longer be sleeping in the bassinet insert of the Pack N Play that we have set up in our bedroom, as the weight limit for that is 15 pounds. So, rather than take the insert out and have him sleep in the main part of the Pack N Play, I decided to finally make the transition and have him sleep in the crib in his room instead.

He's been napping there very well during the day, and spends the first stint of sleep there each night, so I was hopeful that he'd be comfortable enough to spend the whole night there. And he did very well! He's still not sleeping through the night, but he didn't wake up any more than usual.

It does mean that I become more alert and have a tougher time falling back asleep after checking on him or feeding him, however. Making a trip downstairs and sitting in a chair is far different than just going to the foot of our bed. But I think it's a good thing in the long run.
